Spiritual Gifts
The term “gift” is charisma from the root term, grace (charis). The –ma ending indicates the result of. Hence the translation of pneuma charisma is a spirit (pneuma) gift (charisma).
A spiritual gift is the result of God’s grace through the indwelling Holy Spirit in a believer’s life enabling him/her to meet the needs of others in the Body of Christ to the glory of God.
The spiritual gift may be a talent already evident in the life of the individual or maybe a talent newly discovered. What determines that it is a spiritual gift is that it is performed for God’s glory in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the building up of the Body of Christ, the church.
Instead of wasting time seeking to “discover” one’s spiritual gift, look for a need and fill it.
