Thankful for Good Works

A word of encouragement to a sister in Christ

As I prepared my heart to study God’s Word this morning, you came to mind. I am very concerned and pray for you often. However, this morning, in addition to praying that God will meet your needs, I’m thanking our Lord Jesus Christ for all that you do on behalf of the Body of Christ. You are a great example of one who uses your spiritual gifts to meet the needs of others in and out of the church.

We know that we are not saved by good works but are saved to do good works. What the Lord enabled you to do is precious in His sight. In my thoughts, I was reflecting on the matter of miracles today. The wealth we enjoy today makes miracles seem unnecessary. However, every good work we do for the Body of Christ is a miracle of God’s grace working through us to bring glory to Himself.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:10 NASB)

Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. And do not neglect doing good and sharing; for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Heb 13:15-16 NASB)

We do not have to search around looking for good works to do. Good works are all around us. We simply need to use the grace that God, through His Son and the Holy Spirit, has given to us to meet those needs.

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. (Titus 3:5-8 NASB)

So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. (Gal 6:10 NASB)

Sometimes it might seem that what we are doing does not amount to much. However, what is done for Christ will last unto eternity. Everything we do in the name of our Lord will add to the garments we will wear at the marriage feast of the Lamb.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”  And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” (Rev 19:7-9 NASB)

Thank you for being my sister in Christ and being a blessing to me, and to the Church. I/we will continue to pray for your needs and the needs of others in our church family. Take care of your health, you are truly needed.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. (Prov 3:5-6 NASB)

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your judgment as the noonday. (Ps 37:3-6 NASB)

May God bless you today.
